Ms. Stefanie Katz Shear is an accomplished collaborative pianist having worked with various artists throughout the United States and abroad.  Her work includes Rehearsal Pianist /Coach with Palm Beach Opera (West Palm Beach, FL), Opera Theater of Lucca (Lucca, Italy) and International Institute of Vocal Arts (Chiari, Italy).  In addition she worked as a collaborator with the Grandin Festival (Cincinnati, OH) and appears on the Palm Beach Chamber Music Festival’s True Colors CD on the Klavier Music Production label.  Her studio and master class work with artists include Nico Castel, Dorothy DeLay, John Matz, Barbara Honn, Tom Barasel, Roberta Peters, Dean Peterson, Yehuda Hanani, Blythe Walker, Warren Jones, Renata Scotto, Charles Neidich, Sam Sanders, Sandra Rivers and Kenneth Griffiths.

Ms. Katz Shear received her M.M. in Accompanying from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a B.M. in Piano Performance from the University of Miami (Coral Gables, FL).

Most recently, Ms. Katz Shear co-authored The College Board’s Professional Development Special Focus: AP Music Theory, Teaching Sight Singing.  Her article, Sight Singing Integration: Save Time and Build Technique was published in 2008.

Having worked at Palm Beach Atlantic University for 10 years as Staff Accompanist/Vocal Coach and Adjunct Professor of Tonal Harmony, Ms. Katz Shear, Dean of the Music Department/Head of Piano Studies, commences her sixteenth year at Dreyfoos School of the Arts.  Her most proud accomplishments:  sons, Samuel, 5 and Nathan, 3.

This will be Ms. Katz Shear’s third year as our accompanist.
